Course Update

New Drainage Works — Keeping Worrigee Playing

Over the past few weeks our ground staff team have been installing new drainage systems across the course. After a spell of unpredictable, wet weather the upgrades will help the course recover faster after heavy rain and reduce time out of play.

Why this matters

Improved drainage means less standing water, firmer playing surfaces, faster recovery after storms and fewer temporary closures. The pipework channels water to existing drains and historic problem areas.

Work carried out

Our ground staff have been laying new heavy-duty drainage pipes in the most flood-prone sections of the course. Trenches are being dug, pipes laid, backfilled and reseeded — all with the aim of returning sections to play quickly and sustainably.

  • Targeted pipe laying to connect to existing drainage network
  • Improved runoff from fairways and hollows
  • Restoration works after backfill

Where we’re focused

Work has prioritised the oldest problem spots — fairways 11, 12, 16, and 17 — where water typically pools and delays play.

Next steps

  1. Finish pipe runs and test flow
  2. Backfill and reinstate turf
  3. Monitor after next heavy rain

Ground Staff Team

A big thanks to our ground staff for working in tough conditions — early starts, heavy machinery and long days. Their skill ensures the work is done right and the course is playable sooner.
